17A - Elevator Pitch Practice (Part 2)

I didn’t get any feedback from students in this class (thanks everyone), so I had two people I know, they could be considered distant friends (Alec & Marissa, they’re a great couple), watch the elevator pitch and give me some quick feedback. Both of them said the pitch should be longer (that was an obvious error), they also said that it didn’t seem very professional. Even though I put on a blazer, the lighting was poor, the background was a little distracting, and the camera angle was something that would be expected from a vlog, not an elevator pitch. I think I was surprised about the professional part. Sure, I knew it wasn’t great, but I thought the blazer would count for more than it did. They also stated that it would be a good idea to add in a prototype of he product so I wouldn't have to spend so much time describing it as much as showing it.

I ended up elaborating on those points, then I also made sure to change the viewing angle, and also try to go from a natural to a more professional video. Not sure if it worked yet.

  1. I'm glad you got more feedback from people you know as it's worth a hell of a lot more than from strangers in an online college course in my opinion. I liked your video; your aesthetic changes did improve the feel of it overall and you should consider a career being a twitch streamer or something based on that alone.

  2. I think everyone had an awkward angle in their pitches, many had to do it on their phones so whatever! The angle is better though in this one.
