8A - Solving The Problem

A zip up jacket with an integrated neck/face gaiter. Gaiter covers the tip of the nose and goes below the ears, held in place via closure method and possibly elastic band in lining. Gaiter closure is either hook and loop (aka velcro) or a continuation of main zipper. Arms have integrated half mitts (removable – attached via buttons, hook and loop, or zipper) that cover the tops of the hand, loop over the fingers, and have a thumb hole or a thumb piece. Entire jacket is made of polyester shell, with a wool or fleece liner. Hoodie may be optional. Standard color is UF orange and blue, but comes in white, red, and black. Fraternity and Sorority logos can be added for customization. Ideally the jacket would come in four sizes (S, M, L, XL), and come in an athletic fit. An athletic fit would create a sleeker look for the jacket and contribute to the style – something that the target population is expected to appreciate.

  1. Wow this is a great idea, it's rough walking around campus somedays. My face is in pain from the cold and having a jacket to solve the problem would be a great investment. Perhaps adding a XS and XXL to the sizes would attract a broader range in customers. The bookstore would also be a good place to sell this product.

  2. This is a great idea, especially covering part of the face. When you ride on a scooter in the cold, the wind feels like its burning your face. People would also wear this around campus on a cold windy day, so you have an additional consumer group.
